Ar. S.M. Husain ( Shelter Architects )

What do you feel is the greatest challenge when it comes to designing for environmental sustainability?

Ans: This is something that is beyond the basic principles of Architecture. It requires dedication and thinking out of the box and at the same time convincing the client of realizing the responsibility towards the environment. It is a give-and-take process. Unfortunately today we consider it is our right to take from the environment, but we do not realize our duties to pay back. Deep knowledge of architecture and using it as a tool to create balance is the need of time. Analyzing, how our design would impact the environment and designing to create balance is something that is most challenging.

What is your ultimate goal when it comes to your work?

Ans: The ultimate goal is clients satisfaction. Evolving a concept according to clients liking and personality, and suggesting the best possible alternates, which are at the same time environment friendly, is our prime objective.

What do you want to be remembered for?

Ans: I want to be remembered for my diversity. I want to be remembered for the small efforts which I make to preserve and conserve the environment. Be it buildings, birds, animals, trees, water bodies, air, or soil, I want to be remembered by them all.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Ans: The greatest achievement is to be known by the people without giving an introduction. People's reliability and blind faith are something that I can say, I have achieved.

The project you will never forget?

Ans: All projects are close to my heart as all have their unique story and identity, but Crescent resort and Regalia heights are amongst the projects I cherish upon.

Which message do you want to give to upcoming Architects?

Ans: Message- "ALL BIRDS FIND SHELTER DURING A RAIN. BUT EAGLE AVOIDS RAIN BY FLYING ABOVE THE CLOUDS." DR. APJ ABDUL KALAM.

THINK OUT OF THE BOX.
